I got an idea to go to explore the Saue oak grove. And so that the trip would not be too short, I added the town of Keila.

The weather that day was beautiful and snowy. So I packed my things and set off. The first destination was Saue oak grove. It took about 45 minutes to get there from Tallinn, because there were quite a few traffic jams on the way.

I’d been to Saue a lot before, but I hadn’t been to the oak grove. When I arrived, I parked the car and then walked around a bit. I didn’t go anywhere far. Some of the footpaths had been cleared of snow, but not where particularly interesting pictures could be taken. So I had to make my way through the thick snow. This took time and got tired.

I spent about 45 minutes in the Saue oak grove, then I had to move on. Now I made my way to Keila. The plan was to park the car in two places and then walk around there. The first place was the parking lot next to the church and the second the parking lot next to the railway station.

First I went by the church. I walked around the church for a while and then headed towards the Keila River. There I also took the first pictures of my Keila tour.

After I had been to river, I drove to the train station. There I also walked around a bit and made a few photos, too.

And then it was time to head home. As mentioned earlier, it was a short photo trip that lasted about 3-4 hours. I had also intended to fly the drone, but this time I passed.

I had been planning this trip for some time. The obstacle had been the length of the day so far. The days are not very long yet, but the snow is on the ground and it adds light.

In fact, there were more places in the original plan, but a choice had to be made because I just wouldn’t make it to them all. For example, Porkuni, Simuna and Väike-Maarja were left out. I drove through the latter, but did not stop there.

Choosing the day was not an easy task this time. The main problem was snowfall and wind. Snow has been falling almost every day lately, so the trip had to be postponed a few times. Why didn’t I want to go when snowing? Because it is difficult to fly a drone with snow.

I studied the weather forecasts for a long time and thus selected the most suitable day. It wasn’t the perfect weather that day, but the choice was either that day or not to go at all. The weather was completely cloudy that day, the sunshine was nowhere to be seen. There was also some snowfall by the Äntu lakes, but it was not the kind that would have prevented the drone from flying.

The trip started in the morning from Tallinn. The road conditions were snowy. The major roads were relatively clean and could be driven normally.

Onboard camera video from Piibe highway.

The first destination was Vao fortress in Lääne-Virumaa. I approached it along Piibe road. I drove through Aegviidu, Jäneda, Ambla, Tamsalu and Väike-Maarja. After Ambla, the road conditions became quite bad already. The road was snowy and icy, so I didn’t dare drive fast. It took about 2 hours to drive from Tallinn to Vao.

In Vao I took pictures of the fortress and some outbuildings.

When the pictures of Vao were taken, I drove to the neighbours, i.e. to Kiltsi manor. I had plans to take pictures of the manor with a drone, and I did.

When the drone had flewn, I packed things up and started moving on towards the Äntu lakes. The road was very beautiful there, a row of snow-covered trees on both sides of the road. Great sight.

A small drive and I reached the lakes of Äntu. I parked the car in the parking lot, took photographing and camping equipment with me and set off. I walked there for about 2 hours, taking photos in the meantime. I didn’t go through the whole hiking trail because time was running out. Mainly I walked around 3 Äntu lakes (blue, green (also known as Vahejärv lake), and white). I took pictures with both camera and drone.

Someone had drawn a heart on the ice of the lake.

When I had seen all the places, I slowly started to move on. Had some lunch before the drive. The next destination was Koeru, but before that I drove by Emumäe. Unfortunately, the weather there was too cloudy to get anything properly captured.

From Emumäe I headed towards Koeru. The road there was very slippery and the drive was slow. But I got there. I parked my car in the parking lot next to the church and flew the drone there.

The day was slowly getting darker. Since I still wished to take pictures with drone in Aegviidu, it was time to set off. Piibe road was quite snow-free and the slipperiness did not disturb me. So I arrived in Aegviidu in time before it got dark. In Aegviidu, I flew the drone around the train station. One train had also settled in nicely at the station.

When the pictures had been taken in Aegviidu, I set on the way home. The drive home was already in considerable darkness. I got home about 18:00. Thus the trip had lasted about 9 hours.

On August 17, 2020, I went to the old town of Tallinn to take pictures. I took pictures with both a camera and a drone. The first destination was Tallinn Town Hall. I had photographed it with a drone before, but then the sun was not shining from the best direction. Now I went to take pictures of the wind vane Old Thomas again. I went to the old town at 9 o’clock. The place was quite deserted, so it provided an opportunity to peacefully fly my drone.

Old Thomas.

When Old Thomas had been photographed, I flew the drone a bit by St. Nicholas Church as well. One has to be careful there, because one side of St. Nicholas Church is already in the no-fly zone, where one has to have a permit.

I packed things up and left the old town. The next destination was seaplane harbour (Lennusadam). Two cruise ships had been standing nearby for several weeks: AIDAAURA and AIDACARA. I also tried to take a picture of them with a drone.

Again, packed my things up. The next destination was the Balti railway station. I tried to get a picture of the trains with a drone. Unfortunately, there were not many of them there (only 2).

Trains at the Baltic station.

Flying at the Balti railway station was not an easy task, as the connection with the drone tended to be lost. But using connection boosters I got my flight flown.

I packed things up and returned home.

I went to take pictures in Riisipere, Nigula, Rohuküla and Haapsalu. It was a so-called drone day, when I didn’t even take pictures with the camera.

The trip started from Tallinn and the first destination was Riisipere. There I wished to take pictures of Nissi church with a drone.

When I arrived, I took out the drone and the flight could begin.

The next target was the village of Nigula in Läänemaa county and the church of Lääne-Nigula there. There was also a goal to take pictures with a drone.

The next goal was to fly the drone at Rohuküla harbour. Upon arrival, it also became clear that the ferry was nicely present in the port. It took some time to find a place to park the car and send the drone up. There is a parking lot at the harbour, but it was a little too far off to fly the drone. I finally found a place right near the shore. From there, the drone then flew.

When the pictures were taken at Rohuküla, I moved on towards Haapsalu, on the way I stopped at Ungru manor. Again, the drone out of the bag and some photos from the air. Ungru manor and Kiltsi airfield were captured.

Haapsalu greeted with serious heat. The first place to photograph was Haapsalu railway station. There I found a parking space under a nice tree, which provided some relief from the sun. And then the drone took flight again.

Pictures taken at the train station, I headed to the fortress. There I did another drone flight.

I moved on to the promenade. There, as usual, I sent the drone aflight.

The evening had already arrived and it was necessary to start driving towards Tallinn. Otherwise, a quite short trip, but the insane heat made it excruciating. I sat in the car and went straight back home.
